Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) mission is to support the natural development of the human being from birth to maturity, enabling children to become the transforming elements of society, leading to a harmonious and peaceful world.

AMI Schools and Training Centers

When I was seeking Montessori teacher training, I spent about three years researching types of training before I made my final decision. I looked into online training, but realized that those programs do not allow you to work at accredited and recognized Montessori schools. I look into AMS (American Montessori Society) training, which is quite near my house, but I realized that teacher with an AMS diploma cannot work at AMI (Association Montessori International) schools. I did some further research and realized that AMI is the association set up by Maria Montessori herself and that AMS is an offshoot of that, and parted ways with AMI several decades ago.

Maria Montessori AMI

Seeing that the Montessori method was created by Maria Montessori, I thought it most logical to invest in the training given by the association that was created by her. AMI training is not inexpensive, and it is not always available in your state or area, but it is well worth it. In fact, there were several AMS trained teachers in my training who felt that their AMS training has not been thorough enough, and that they should have just done the AMI training from the outset.

I was trained through the Montessori Training Center of St. Louis (which requires three summers spent away from my family in Chicago IL) with Dr. Annette Haines, and it has been an excellent, challenging and thorough experience with teachers from all over the world.
